This Week On DVD

Watchmen
Director: Zack Snyder
Rated: R

There is no picture because the stupid thing won’t let me add an image. It’s wonderful, I love it. Anyway, I have previously written exactly how I feel about this movie, so if you are curious you can go find it. This movie should be watched for Jackie Earle Haley alone. He is absolutely fantastic.

Coraline
Director: Henry Selick
Rated: PG

As everybody knows, I am not a huge fan of animated movies. However, I am a huge fan of Coraline. This movie is absolutely awesome. It’s a pretty strong ‘PG’ and could be frightening to children, so I would recommend this more for teenagers and adults. This movie has it all though, it’s funny, scary, interesting, original, and great. This movie easily has my vote for best animated film of the year, and hopefully the academy follows suit. I very highly recommend this movie. You will not be disappointed.

Watching this movie again recently, I’m blown away by Jackie Earl Haley. He is an example of doing the “Batman Voice” but not taking it to ridiculous levels. And the few times you see his face, the emotion there is crazy.

I was also pleasantly surprised by Coraline. It was completely original, and very very entertaining. There were times when I was laughing at the same time as being totally creeped out.
