I Heart Lists

More lists, simply because I love them. I like compiling lists of even the most ridiculous things. This time I decided to make a list out of all the movies that I have seen. Truthfully, I don’t know that this is counting all the movies I have ever seen, in fact I am sure it’s not, but all the ones that I am presently aware of. I keep a spreadsheet of all the movies I have seen, but since I didn’t start this little fun project until 2003, it is missing random movies that I saw growing up that I don’t even remember. Anyway, this is a list of how many movies I have seen in each genre according to my movie list. This took forever by the way. And a lot of movies go into two categories, so I had to pick one…oh well.

Action- 234

Classics- 31

Comedy- 600

Documentary- 28

Drama- 681

Family- 218

Foreign- 57

Horror- 157

Musicals- 10

Sci-Fi- 49

Western- 21

Total- 2086

That’s 83.44 movies per year of my life.  And that’s even with counting my first few years of life, when I watched zero per year. Those zeroes hurt my yearly average, dangit. So, if I watch 83.44 movies per year (which as an adult, I watch about 200 per year) and I live to the age of 72 that will be a total of 6007 movies watched in my lifetime….sweet!

 I have had a couple people tell me, “Really? You have only seen 2000 movies?” Then I told them that it is a lot more than it sounds like and then challenged both of them to count how many they had seen. They both came back and said that they didn’t finish counting but 2000 is quite a lot. Take that. And yes, I know there are tens of thousands of people out there that have seen more movies than me.
